Emma Macsween competed in the SPARKS Female Learner of the Year Competition.
Emma is just finishing up her second year of her Electrical Apprenticeship and is showing excellent progress. She initially competed in the Regional Heats and came Runner-Up in Wigan, which gave her a place in the Final based in the Midlands.
We are incredibly proud of Emma for making it to the Final as she was amongst some of the brightest apprentices in the UK. Though Emma may not have left the competition with an award we are incredibly proud of her achievement and dedication to her trade.
“It is great to see Emma take part and compete at the Female Learner of the Year 2026.
Emma is proving to be a fine young trainee electrician both at the UHI Stornoway college and on site at Lewis Builders Ltd. With a great attention to detail and a great work ethic we are proud to have her on our ever growing and busy Electrical team.
Her success in this industry will undoubtedly continue and we are excited to support her in future challenges.” – Andrew Griffiths, Electrical Operations Manager
“Emma was selected by the college to attend the Female Learner of Year 2026 and as her employers we supported it as it is a great opportunity for Emma to demonstrate the skills she has gained during her apprenticeship.
We were delighted to see Emma performing well at the competition, as it reflects the level of diligence and dedication, she has for her studies and work with us on site.
A warm congratulations from the Electrical Management team.” - Nicky Ellakirk, Electrical Engineering Manager
